February 20, 2010 Robertson, Wyoming
Friday I decided that it was about time to give Bristol an opportunity on wild bunnies. Yep, I was aware that a storm was moving in over Wyoming. Yep, I was aware that it would be colder than cold. But even so, getting out anyway would give her a better chance than sitting on the couch all weekend, right? So that's just what we did. Yep, the bunnies were hunkered down in their cozy holes and unwilling to play which was a disappointment to me considering the insane 'highway' of track. Bristol was on track from the get-go. Some were pretty fresh...dang!
Still glad we went? Of course....Bristol got to be a 'dog' and while it would have been nice to bust up a few of those elusive fur balls, it was fun just watching her. Until next time!!!

Ummm....
We took a trip up to Hardware Ranch to check out the big Bulls. Stopped off to let the kiddos sled. 10* isn't too cold for sledding, right? Only 1 way across the river to get to the 'prime' sledding spot and guess who didn't think crossing a river on a 10* day was such a good idea? Probably the only smart one in the group!

Black Friday Big Shot Competition: Howell, Utah
Sterling asked me to come up to his first annual "Black Friday Big Shot Competition" to shoot pictures Friday. Here are just a few beautiful points...

Our Porter. Out of 16 teams, he led the team that borrowed him to 2nd place. He is one awesome pointing lab machine.

A really nice Brittney.

Oh yeah...that's MY girl!

What to do when Dad fly's in for the weekend? Get him out on Utah birds! After Bristol patiently sat back listening to the pops go off all day so I could get some really great pictures, we decided it was about time to get her in on the action. She didn't miss a beat!

Bristol says, "Did you really think I was going to bring it to hand?" Not a chance!

She picked up that bird and bolted. It was so funny.

Not bad!

13 weeks old and loving every minute of it!

Dad and I. The hunt was a blast and I was able to get some really great shots (with the Canon) which made it even better.

Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge, Green River Wyoming
Chillin' Drift-boat Style.
Wrapping up week 8 with Bristol. We ventured over to Kemmerer Wy for the weekend to float the Seedskadee. Bristol encountered Trout, 6 Moose, Trumpeter Swan, Golden Eagle's and Rabbit to name a few. She did great! It was awesome to watch her put her nose to the ground and bust through all sorts of prickly sage brush and thick weeds. Even more impressive was when she would get a bit too far ahead of us, I would call her back "Bristol, COME!", and she would lock it up, turn around and come on an all out sprint back to me. Quoting Rodger, "That's a good dog." I 2nd that.

7 weeks, 6 days old.
How lucky was this for Bristol? I decided Sunday afternoon would be a good day to take Bristol down the the pond and let her check things out. As luck would have it, some critter had dug a fresh burrow. I would have walked right by, but Bristol locked up the brakes, started sniffing around, and before I knew it, was shoulder deep intending to find herself that critter! Again, I was pretty proud of her. And, I am pretty sure I won't be having any raccoons bedding down in my bleeding heart bush this next spring.
I wasn't sure I wanted her dragging out whatever was down there, but decided I would take my chances. She is just so much fun to watch!

I was so hoping that the big ole' rooster pheasant living down here was in this mass of trees and brush. A critter burrow and a live rooster on the same day? Would have been cool, but no such luck.

Water? Not a problem.

Bristol's first time with a wing!
These first 2 pictures were taken within seconds of each other.

7 weeks, 2 days old. Absolutely beautiful.

Gotta love that natural instinct!

And again.

So cute! (and impressive for a first time wing!)

Yummy!

Taken after we put the wing up. Bristol continuing to look for the wing. It was obvious she was not going to quit on her own so I scooped her up, gave her tons of love, hugs and kisses and we went inside where she happily found her squeaky duck toy.
All we can say is "WOW!" This girl is going places!
